A Tribute to Joseph Albert Marchese
Joseph Marchese (Uncle Joe), passed away on January 20th. He turned 95 on January 4th. He was wanting to leave this earth, wanting to see his beloved wife, Mabel, that he missed every day since her death. The photo on the right, is their wedding picture
Obituary

Joseph A. Marchese died peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 20, 2009. He was 95 years old. Joe was a proud member of the IBEW Union for 74 years, its oldest member in San Diego County. He was the first apprentice electrician for SDG&E. In 1935, all linemen were brought in from Wichita, Kansas. Joe said, “Train me, I’ll climb the poles!” He is preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, best friend and sweetheart of 66 years. He is survived by his sister Josephine Brown and brother Mario; 4 daughters, Barbara Todd, Betty Jo Salazar, Linda Lorentz, and Laura Stephenson; son-in-laws, Ernie Salazar and Martin Lorentz; 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Services will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Saturday, January 31 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Avalon Hospice & Palliative Care.
The service at Mt. Hope cemetery. About 100 + in attendance! A reception was given at the home of daughter Betty Jo and husband Ernie Salazar, following the service!
A rather unique thing about Joe's passing{in center above] he died on January 20th, my Dad John's birthday{on left} and was buried on his younger brother Mario Jr. birthday January 31st.{on right above}
