On December 15th, 2001, we had a Marchese
Christmas Party at our house. There were around 50 in attendance (
half of them children, hard to count). We had Italian Buffet, a Buono
Natale cake, lots of visiting and a song fest. Uncle Victor sang "O
Sole Mio" grandaughter Katharine sang Silent Night, and then
all sang some Christmas Carols. I got to play the piano and gave a
narration about the history of the Marchese Family. I had just received
from Palermo the death certificate of Giovanni Marchese, the brother
of grandfather Mario. This would of been my father John's namesake.Giovanni
died in 1897, in Palermo.None of the living Marchese's in San Diego
knew that this person existed. I got the clue from a source in San
Jose, a grandson of Giovanni.Aunt Josephine, Uncle Victor and Uncle
Mario were at the party, and the offspring from their families plus
the deceased peers, Rose and John's offspring. BY MARLENE ROBERSHAW
