Palazzo Reale - the Chapel of King Roger 11, of Sicily,reigned 1095 - 1154. Byzantine Mosaics and murals covered the walls and ceiling.

Here is the alter art, the majestic Christ Pantocrator (all powerful), which is in alot of the large churches.

Here is the King's Chariot - protected completely in glass.

This is me in the famous Cattedrale Monreale, a wonder of the world. Most Byzantine Mosaics in any church in the world. 130 Bible story scenes on the walls.

This is the church San Francesco di Assissi. Built in 1255, it is now hidden in an alley. work continued on this thru the 1800's. It has survived an earthquake and also damage from the WW 11 bombings.

Inside San Francesco is this beautiful side alter with this painting and the statues below are in this.

Here is Laurie in the Monreale Cathedral, you can see the side walls full of Mosaics.

Here we have marble statues and beautiful inlaid designs in the marble columns.

This famous restaurant across the alley from the church, was even famous back in the 1800's with the elite and rulers of Sicily. It was always the "street food " of the common people.

Here is the cafeteria style food, all of it was very good.

We were so glad to find this place, Like the church, it was hidden down curved alleys. But was packed with people that knew where it was.
